Last year we went on a little zip slide adventure in the beautiful Elgin Valley.
The Cape Canopy tour is situated in the Hottentots Holland Nature Reserve and is about an hour’s drive from Cape Town. It is a beautiful reserve with rocky mountains, natural pools and amazing fynbos.
Our tour started with a bumpy 4×4 ride up the pass to our starting point. This ride was quite an adventure on its own, and we could not help but stare at the beautiful valley as we made our way up the pass. As we went along, our guide was telling us more about the valley and the plants, and left us laughing as we tried to keep our video camera steady on the bumpy road.
Our tour started at the top of the mountains and lasted for about 3 hours.
You feel like you are hanging over the top of the world.
With each slide the scenery changes. Each one more beautiful than before. You will get to see mountains, nature, waterfalls, rocky pools and so much more with a bird’s eye view. There is also a suspension bridge that you need to cross.
You get to surround yourself with beauty while getting educated about the valley from your guide, and getting an adrenalin rush! Now that is my sort of day out!
The guides are amazing and very friendly. They explain everything you need to know about the tour, and even if you are a bit scared of heights, they will take care of you as they have very strict safety regulations to follow.
The Cape Canopy tour consists of 13 platforms. Steel cables connect the platforms forming the zip slides, with the longest slide at 320m long.
The Cape Canopy Tour is really for everyone! If you like adventure, nature or just a break from the city life, you should definitely book a tour with these guys!
