2015 And new adventures

8th January 2016

2015 Was quite the year! We crossed dodgy borders, took overnight busses, rode motorcycles, found new jobs, tried loads of new food, walked till our feet ached, danced in the desert, got inspired by the universe, got TEFL certified, made new friends and best of all…..we moved to a whole new country!
Wow! Cheers to 2015 and all the new adventures that are lurking on the horizon!

But first, let me tell you a bit more about 2015. What was this year really about?

To be honest, it was a very difficult year but also the best and most memorable one ever!
Sometimes people (even us) look at travel photos, blogs and videos and think “WOW! These people are simply living the dream!”.

We came to realize that this isn’t always true. You don’t see the photos of where we got sick. You don’t see the uncomfortable bus rides, the scenes where we are washing our clothes in a bathroom sink, the nights we only had a towel to sleep under or the times we felt a bit scared. But somehow, these are the moments that make the journey more adventurous. When you push your limits, physically and emotionally, it forms your soul and you feel alive. You start to realize that money and material things are nothing. It’s the experiences that form you.

2015 Taught us to live in the moment. To be happy in whatever you do and to be happy wherever you are. Be thankful for the journey and the life lessons. Be thankful for the challenges.

“When we least expect it, life sets us a challenge to test our courage and willingness to change; at such a moment, there is no point in pretending that nothing has happened or in saying that we are not yet ready. The challenge will not wait. Life does not look back. A week is more than enough time for us to decide whether or not to accept our destiny.” – Paulo Coelho

So here are 10 “New years resolutions” to take into account everyday:

1. Be thankful
Be thankful for the challenges in your life. At the end of the day, these challenges are the ones that form you.

2. Be kind
Be kind to everyone you meet. Yes, even that lady that elbowed her way past you yesterday. You never know what battles they fight on a daily basis and besides, your life will be better if you try not to let these things bother you. You will make some new friends and life will be better.

3. Live in the moment
Don’t let your phone become your best friend. Schedule hikes where you leave your phone at home and soak up your surroundings. Go and chill in a park, read a new book and break away from your busy life for a while. Facebook and Instagram will still be there tomorrow.

4. Learn a new skill
Now is the time to sign up for that cooking class you always wanted to try! Just do it! Teach yourself a new skill, (there are tons of resources online), or take up a class.

5. Explore your backyard
Just go outside! There are streets waiting to be explored and mountains waiting to be climbed! What are you waiting for?

6. Say YES!
Say YES to new opportunities. Go for a coffee with your friend, see a new show, go to a festival and try not to miss any new event that life throws your way. I’m not saying that you should say YES to everything, but at least try to do something new once a month.

7. Buy a plane ticket
Traveling is easy! You just need the guts to actually do it! Work out a savings plan and make a mood board for the places you want to visit. You can read more about how we saved up for our travels over here

8. Be inspired
Be inspired by this magical world we live in! Visit an art museum, join a creative society or visit local markets. Whatever your niche is, find the things that dri
ve it

9. Make time for people
There is a quote that says: “Never get so busy making a living that you forget to make a life.”
Make time for the people in your life. You are NEVER too busy! These days its so easy to stay connected. Set up skype chats, type letters via email and make time for friends and family.

10. Do things that YOU love
This year, make some time for you! Live YOUR best life and just do things that you love!

Sometimes all you need is a little bit of love

We are really looking forward to 2016! (We already planned our first mini adventure! YAY!)
Make 2016 YOUR year! This world has hidden treasures and magical moments waiting for you to experience it! Just get out there!
